100 Reputable Women of African Descent 2025: Sharifah Namusisi – Transforming Mental Health and Women’s Empowerment in Uganda

Sharifah Namusisi, a distinguished Ugandan mental health advocate and women’s empowerment leader, has made significant strides in promoting psychological well-being and gender equality across Africa. As the President of the African Women Summit (Uganda), she has been instrumental in creating platforms that amplify women’s voices and address critical issues affecting them.​

Sharifah is the founder of Let’s Fix It – Individual & Couples Counseling, a private practice based in Bukoto, Kampala. Her practice offers a wide range of services, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), family counseling, community guidance, individual therapy, couples counseling, group therapy, and premarital counseling. Through Let’s Fix It, she has worked with families, schools, corporations, groups, and individuals, providing tailored mental health services that foster personal growth and relationship building. ​

With over eight years of experience as a licensed individual, marriage, and family therapist, as well as a certified life coach, Sharifah has dedicated her career to addressing mental health challenges and promoting emotional well-being. Her expertise in attachment theory and cognitive behavioral therapy has enabled her to offer insightful and effective counseling services. ​

Beyond her counseling practice, Sharifah’s role as the President of the African Women Summit (Uganda) underscores her commitment to women’s empowerment. Under her leadership, the summit has organized numerous initiatives aimed at fostering gender equality and providing women with the tools and opportunities needed to thrive in various sectors. ​

Sharifah’s dedication has not gone unnoticed. She has been recognized as one of the 100 Reputable Women of African Descent, a testament to her impactful work in mental health advocacy and women’s empowerment. This accolade will be formally presented at the 6th Edition of the Africa Women Summit in Cairo. ​
