Zimbabwe have recalled Wessly Madhevere and Newman Nyamhuri to their squad for the three-match T20 International series against India, while wicketkeeper-batter Tafadzwa Tsiga has earned his maiden T20I call-up.
The trio replace Clive Madande, Tinotenda Maposa and Tashinga Musekiwa in the squad that faced Bangladesh earlier this month. Fast bowler Tanaka Chivanga also retains his place after stepping in during the ODI series against Bangladesh.
Madhevere returns after featuring in Zimbabwe’s recent Test and ODI matches against Bangladesh, while Nyamhuri is back after recovering from an injury that limited his participation in the ODI series. Although Tsiga has represented Zimbabwe in 10 Test matches, the upcoming series will mark his first opportunity in T20 international cricket.
Zimbabwe enter the series after defeating Bangladesh in the one-off Test and ODI series but losing the T20I series 2-1. They now face a tougher challenge against reigning ICC Men’s T20 World Cup champions India, with all three matches scheduled for July 23, 25 and 26 at the Harare Sports Club.
The squad changes reflect Zimbabwe’s continued efforts to strengthen squad depth and provide opportunities for emerging players alongside experienced internationals. Building a competitive player pool remains critical as African teams seek to improve their consistency in global cricket and strengthen the continent’s presence in international competitions.
