Nigerian grassroots football academy Stars Builders has entered into a partnership with Greenpeg Engineering ahead of the 2026/27 season, in a move designed to strengthen youth football development and support the academy’s long-term growth.
The partnership was announced during a signing ceremony at Greenpeg Engineering’s headquarters in Lagos, where both organisations highlighted their shared commitment to developing young people through education, skills and sport.
Greenpeg Engineering Managing Director Bolaji Adekunle said the company’s experience in training young professionals aligns closely with Stars Builders’ mission of nurturing football talent and creating opportunities for young athletes.
Stars Builders CEO Ayodeji Adegbenro described the agreement as an important step in the academy’s growth strategy, expressing confidence that the partnership would support its ambition of competing in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in the coming years.
Founded in 2021, Stars Builders have progressed rapidly through Nigeria’s football system, winning the Ogun State League before earning promotion to the Nationwide League One (NLO). The academy has also produced players who have represented Nigeria at youth level and secured professional opportunities abroad.
As part of the agreement, Greenpeg Engineering will become the academy’s front-of-shirt sponsor for the 2026/27 season.
The partnership reflects the increasingly important role of private sector investment in African football. Sustainable collaborations between businesses and grassroots academies provide funding, improve player development, create employment opportunities within the sports ecosystem, and strengthen the pipeline of talent capable of representing African clubs and national teams on the global stage.
