The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a delegation from the Senior Command and Staff College of Burundi on Wednesday 8th April 2026 as part of their study tour to Nigeria, aimed at deepening international cooperation and strengthening regional partnerships.
Welcoming the delegation on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, the Director Policy, Research and Strategy Department, Ambassador Musa Sani Nuhu reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to African solidarity, regional integration, and multilateral diplomacy. He noted that Nigeria continues to play a leading role in promoting peace, security, and economic development across the continent.
The visit provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange perspectives on diplomacy, regional security, and cross-border cooperation. Discussions highlighted Nigeria’s active engagement through ECOWAS and other regional frameworks, as well as collaborative efforts in counter-terrorism, including the Multinational Joint Task Force.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Commandant of the Burundi Senior Command and Staff College expressed appreciation for the warm reception and commended Nigeria’s leadership in regional affairs. He emphasized that the insights gained would contribute to building stronger international partnerships and enhancing strategic capacity among participants.
The visit also featured a cultural exchange, with the Burundi delegation presenting symbolic gifts that reflect their heritage and goodwill.
The Ministry described the engagement as a valuable platform for strengthening bilateral relations and fostering mutual understanding between both countries.
