GAC Toyota has officially opened presales for its new fully electric sedan, the Toyota bZ7, marking a significant step in the company’s push to expand its electric vehicle lineup in China.

The bZ7 is a mid to large size battery electric sedan and is part of Toyota’s “bZ” series, which stands for “beyond Zero,” a strategy aimed at advancing the company’s global transition to electric mobility. The model was unveiled as one of the most technologically advanced vehicles developed by the joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation and Guangzhou Automobile Group.

Presales for the vehicle began as the company prepares for its official market launch in 2026. The sedan is expected to compete in the approximately 200,000 yuan price segment, equivalent to roughly 28,000 U.S. dollars, targeting China’s rapidly expanding electric vehicle market.

The bZ7 features several advanced technologies, including a digital cockpit powered by Huawei’s HarmonyOS operating system and an advanced driver assistance system developed with autonomous driving technology firm Momenta. The vehicle is also equipped with dual chamber air suspension designed to improve ride comfort and handling.

Industry analysts say the launch reflects increasing competition in China’s electric vehicle market, where both domestic manufacturers and global automakers are racing to introduce more advanced and affordable EV models. The bZ7 is expected to strengthen GAC Toyota’s electrification strategy as demand for electric vehicles continues to grow rapidly in the world’s largest auto market.

The company has not yet disclosed full specifications for the vehicle, but it confirmed that the sedan will officially enter the Chinese market later in 2026.
