Egypt has received 1 billion euros from the European Union and is scheduled to receive a total of 3 billion euros in two tranches throughout 2026, the country’s International Cooperation Ministry announced.

The grant is part of a larger 5 billion euro ($5.82 billion) macro-financial assistance package agreed with the EU, aimed at supporting Egypt’s economic stability, public finance management, and development priorities. The first tranche of the package was disbursed in January 2025.

Officials said the funds would strengthen fiscal resilience, support key public services, and facilitate ongoing structural reforms. The assistance package reflects the EU’s commitment to deepening economic cooperation with Egypt and bolstering the country’s role as a strategic partner in the Mediterranean region.

Egyptian authorities highlighted that the continued support would help the government manage inflationary pressures, energy costs, and other macroeconomic challenges, while promoting investment and sustainable growth. The ministry also noted that all tranches of the package would be implemented with transparency and accountability to ensure maximum benefit to Egyptian citizens.
