Lucy James Abagi, a distinguished Nigerian leader and development strategist, currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Public and Private Development Centre (PPDC). With a proven track record in governance, innovation, and transparency, she is at the forefront of driving impactful, sustainable development across Africa. Her appointment as CEO follows a successful tenure as the Director of Partnerships and Innovation at PPDC, where she cultivated strategic collaborations with both public and private sector donors, deepening her grasp of the organization’s mission and strategic direction.

In her previous role, Lucy led the business development, innovation hub, and technology teams, working to align operations with PPDC’s core vision of promoting accountability and good governance. Her efforts have been instrumental in expanding the center’s initiatives and global reach, introducing innovative solutions that enhance transparency and citizen engagement.

Before joining PPDC, Lucy served as the Director of Programs at Connected Development (CODE), where she led the renowned Follow the Money campaigns. Under her leadership, the initiative successfully raised $5 million for social impact programs that spanned nine African countries. These campaigns, supported by major partners including the Open Society Initiative for West Africa, Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, Luminate, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Ford Foundation, and USAID, impacted over 4 million lives in underserved communities.

Armed with a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Lucy brings extensive experience in program development, stakeholder engagement, and accountability mechanisms.
