African Fashion Week 202G lit up Johannesburg’s Sandton City Wakanda Gallery with an Afro-Futuristic theme, merging fashion with commerce and policy dialogue. Designers such as Onkgopotse Mashika (Angalia Apparel), Marguerite McAlpine (Mc Alpine), and Gabby Mogatusi (Silk N’ Cotton) presented collections rooted in African heritage while embracing innovation and sustainability.

The event ran alongside the Global South International Business Forum, positioning fashion as a

driver of trade and investment. According to AFW CEO Mpho Mogotsi, the platform is evolving into a movement that integrates fashion, business, and global trade, aiming to expand into multi-city showcases worldwide.

By aligning creativity with commerce, AFW 202G demonstrated how African fashion is not only cultural expression but also a serious contributor to global economic participation. trendsettero.
