A 36-year-old realtor, Yinka Agboola, has died after a yet-to-be-identified driver allegedly knocked him down during a dispute over a parking space at Royal Pine Estate on Orchid Road, Lekki, Lagos State. The incident occurred on Monday evening and has thrown the upscale residential community into mourning.

According to information shared by residents on social media and obtained by PUNCH Metro, trouble started when the driver parked his vehicle in a manner that obstructed movement within the estate. Residents who noticed the obstruction reportedly approached the driver and asked him to move the car to an alternative spot already made available.

Despite the polite request, the driver was said to have become confrontational. A resident who raised the alarm in several posts stated that the man grew increasingly hostile and even threatened to kill one of the residents during the argument.

Witnesses alleged that the situation escalated further when the driver got back into his car, accelerated aggressively, and knocked down Agboola, who was among those trying to calm the situation. The impact was reportedly forceful enough to cause severe injuries.

Agboola was rushed to a nearby hospital but was later confirmed dead.

Residents said the driver fled the scene immediately after the incident. Efforts are underway to identify him and locate the vehicle involved. Members of the estate community have been cooperating with authorities and providing statements to aid investigations.

The tragedy has sparked outrage among residents and social media users, many of whom have called for urgent security reforms within estates in the Lekki corridor, where disputes over visitor access, parking, and traffic obstructions have become increasingly common.

The Lagos State Police Command has not yet issued an official statement, but it is expected to launch a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding Agboola’s death, including reviewing CCTV footage from the estate and surrounding areas.

Agboola, described by friends and colleagues as a hardworking and peaceful professional, leaves behind grieving family members and a shocked real estate community.
