In a further demonstration of mutual respect, the Angolan government recently honored three distinguished Nigerians — the late Head of State, General Murtala Mohammed; former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo; and renowned diplomat Professor Ibrahim Gambari — for Nigeria’s decisive role in Angola’s independence struggle and its ongoing contributions to Pan-Africanism and African solidarity. The awards, presented by President João Manuel Lourenço in Luanda, symbolically reaffirm the historic bonds between the two nations.
