A group within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended former Zamfara State Governor and Senator Abdul’aziz Yari for what it described as his continued contributions to development initiatives in Nigeria’s North-West region.
In a statement, the group said Yari has remained committed to promoting programmes and interventions aimed at improving infrastructure, economic opportunities and social development across the region. It noted that his engagement in regional affairs has helped sustain discussions on policies intended to address long-standing development challenges facing North-West states.
According to the group, Yari has consistently advocated for initiatives that promote unity, economic growth and improved public welfare. It added that his efforts have contributed to strengthening collaboration among political leaders, community stakeholders and development partners working to advance the region’s development agenda.
The group also acknowledged Yari’s role in supporting initiatives designed to improve road infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and youth empowerment. It said sustained investment in these sectors is essential to creating jobs, reducing poverty and improving living standards across the North-West.
The statement comes at a time when the region continues to face significant development challenges, including insecurity, limited infrastructure, unemployment and the effects of climate change on agricultural production. Governments at the federal and state levels have identified increased investment in security, transportation, agriculture and social services as key priorities for accelerating development.
Political observers note that endorsements from party-affiliated groups are a common feature of Nigeria’s political landscape and often reflect internal support for prominent political figures. They emphasize, however, that such statements represent the views of the groups issuing them and should not be interpreted as official positions of the APC or government institutions.
Development experts argue that achieving sustainable progress in the North-West will require coordinated action by governments, the private sector, civil society organizations and local communities. They stress that infrastructure development, quality education, improved healthcare, agricultural modernization and expanded economic opportunities remain critical to addressing the region’s socio-economic challenges.
Analysts also point to the importance of good governance, transparency and effective implementation of development projects to ensure that investments translate into measurable improvements in the lives of residents.
The APC group reaffirmed its support for Yari’s development efforts and urged political leaders, traditional institutions and other stakeholders to continue working together to promote peace, stability and inclusive economic growth throughout the North-West. It expressed optimism that sustained collaboration and strategic investments would help unlock the region’s economic potential and contribute to Nigeria’s broader national development objectives.
