His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) of the Republic of Yemen, has received an official invitation from His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, to attend the highly anticipated opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum scheduled for the beginning of November. The event is expected to be one of the most significant cultural inaugurations in recent decades, showcasing Egypt’s rich history and reinforcing its role as a global hub for heritage, archaeology, and tourism.

In addition to the official invitation to attend the museum’s grand opening, President al-Alimi received a second message from President El-Sisi emphasizing the deep-rooted and historic bilateral relations between Yemen and Egypt. The message highlighted the shared values and mutual interests that bind the two brotherly nations, while also underscoring the importance of further enhancing cooperation across regional and international platforms. President El-Sisi’s communication outlined the need to strengthen political, cultural, and economic ties as both nations continue to navigate regional challenges and pursue common development goals.

The delivery of the invitation and message was made by Dr. Yahya al-Shuaibi, Director of the Office of the Presidency, who received the letters on behalf of President al-Alimi from His Excellency Ihab Abu Surai, the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Yemen, during a meeting in Riyadh on Tuesday. The exchange of these letters not only reflects the depth of diplomatic engagement between the two countries but also reaffirms Egypt’s continued support for Yemen at a time when the country is striving to restore peace, stability, and economic recovery.

The upcoming opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum is being widely regarded as a landmark event for Egypt and the Arab world. The museum, located near the Pyramids of Giza, will house thousands of ancient artifacts, including the complete collection of treasures from the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, displayed for the first time in one location. Leaders, dignitaries, and cultural figures from across the globe are expected to attend, making it a platform for Egypt to project its cultural diplomacy and strengthen international relations through shared appreciation of history and heritage. President al-Alimi’s attendance at such a prestigious event would not only symbolize Yemen’s close relations with Egypt but also reflect Yemen’s engagement in wider Arab and global cultural initiatives.

The invitation arrives at a time when Yemen continues to seek stronger regional alliances and international partnerships to support its political transition and socio-economic development. Egypt, under President El-Sisi’s leadership, has consistently expressed solidarity with Yemen, backing legitimate state institutions and calling for peace, stability, and humanitarian support for the Yemeni people. The messages exchanged between the two presidents reaffirm this unwavering stance, while also opening doors to renewed collaboration in fields such as security, education, trade, and cultural exchange.

President Rashad al-Alimi’s forthcoming participation in the Grand Egyptian Museum’s inauguration will thus carry both symbolic and strategic significance. It will serve as a reminder of the shared cultural heritage between Arab nations, the enduring partnership between Egypt and Yemen, and the commitment of their leaders to fostering stronger ties amid the evolving regional and international landscape.
