Mohamed Salah Signs New Two-Year Deal with Liverpool

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has ended months of speculation by signing a new two-year contract with the club, extending his stay at Anfield until 2027.

The 32-year-old Egyptian star’s previous deal was set to expire this summer, fueling widespread rumors about a potential move to Saudi Arabia, especially following his own remarks earlier in the season about his uncertain future. However, Salah has now committed his future to Liverpool, where he has already cemented his status as a club legend.

“I’m very excited. We have a great team and a real chance to win more trophies,” Salah said. “I’ve had the best years of my career here, and I’m enjoying my life and football in Liverpool. Hopefully, I’ll make it to 10 years with the club.”

Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017 and has since made 394 appearances, scoring 243 goals and providing 109 assists. He has won every major club trophy available during his time with the Reds, including the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.

This season, Salah has been in superb form, scoring 32 goals in all competitions — 27 of those in the Premier League — as Liverpool closes in on a record-equaling 20th top-flight title. The Reds currently sit 11 points ahead of second-placed Arsenal with seven matches left.

The new contract is reportedly in line with his previous deal, which made Salah the highest-paid player in the club’s history, earning over £350,000 a week.

Uncertainty Turned Commitment

Despite his legendary status at the club, Salah’s future had been the subject of ongoing speculation. In September, he hinted that the 2024–25 season could be his last, stating that no one from the club had approached him about renewing his contract. In later interviews, he even suggested he was “probably more out than in.”

However, Liverpool manager Arne Slot remained confident Salah would make the right decision, calling him “wise” and expressing a strong desire to keep him at the club.

Slot praised Salah’s commitment and mentality: “What makes Mo special is not just his ability to score goals, but how mentally strong he is. Even on an off day, he finds a way to deliver. His consistency, desire, and humility are what keep him at the top.”

Ending the Saga and Securing the Future

Liverpool marked the announcement with a symbolic post on social media, showing Salah — nicknamed the “Egyptian King” — sitting on a throne at Anfield, with the caption “more in than out.”

Salah’s contract renewal follows reports that fellow veteran Virgil van Dijk is also close to signing a two-year extension, while right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold remains in negotiations amid interest from Real Madrid.

Analysts say the two-year length of the contracts is a strategic move by Liverpool — not only securing key players but also avoiding another season clouded by contract distractions.

Despite the noise around player futures, Liverpool is on course to lift the Premier League title, and Salah’s renewed commitment could serve as a catalyst for even more success under Arne Slot’s leadership.

As Liverpool prepares for the next chapter, Salah remains at the heart of it — a symbol of excellence, consistency, and loyalty.
