Arsenal icon Ian Wright has called on his former club to address their attacking deficiencies by signing Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush from Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt. Wright’s comments come as the Gunners grapple with an underwhelming start to their Premier League campaign, currently sitting third on the table, six points behind league leaders Liverpool.

The North London side’s inability to maintain a consistent title challenge has been attributed, in part, to their lack of a reliable goal-scoring striker. Wright, who scored an impressive 185 goals during his illustrious Arsenal career, believes Marmoush could be the solution to the club’s attacking woes.

Since joining Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023, Marmoush has become a standout performer in the Bundesliga. The 25-year-old forward has netted 35 goals in just 65 appearances across all competitions, solidifying his reputation as one of Europe’s emerging attacking talents. His versatility, ability to operate across the front line, and eye for goal have made him an attractive prospect for several top European clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich.

Wright, speaking on his Wright’s House Podcast, was effusive in his praise for the Egyptian international, urging Arsenal to make a decisive move.

“You know what? There’s two players I’d probably go for here. But, like, we obviously have to go for one,” Wright said. “I’d like people to have a look at Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt. You know him, right? You know him very well. If you’re going now and need to get something, if you go hard, go and look at Omar Marmoush, see what he’s doing.”

While Arsenal boasts a strong midfield and solid defensive lineup under manager Mikel Arteta, the lack of a consistent goal-scoring forward remains a glaring issue. The Gunners have relied heavily on contributions from midfielders and wide players, which, while effective in moments, has not provided the cutting edge needed to challenge for the Premier League title.

Wright’s endorsement of Marmoush reflects growing calls for the club to invest in a high-caliber striker who can deliver in crucial moments. With Arsenal seeking to reclaim their status as a dominant force in English football, signing a player of Marmoush’s caliber could be a game-changing move.

Marmoush’s performances for Eintracht Frankfurt have not gone unnoticed, with several elite European clubs reportedly monitoring his progress. Liverpool, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich are all said to be interested in the Egyptian forward, who has become a sought-after talent in the transfer market.

Reports suggest that Marmoush could command a transfer fee in the region of £50-60 million, a figure that reflects his value as one of the Bundesliga’s standout attackers. For Arsenal, securing his signature would require swift action and a willingness to compete financially with other top clubs.
