Ambassador Rotimi Ramalan, Nigerian fashion entrepreneur and business executive, has completed an 18-day business and industrial tour across China, aimed at strengthening collaboration in fashion production, textile sourcing, manufacturing technology, and renewable energy.
The visit formed part of the international expansion strategy of his brand, RNR Global Emporium, as he explored opportunities to enhance production quality, technology transfer, and industrial cooperation between Nigeria and China.
Speaking during the tour, Ambassador Ramalan emphasized the importance of African fashion brands establishing direct international manufacturing relationships to improve quality and global competitiveness. He noted that engagements with leading Chinese manufacturers provided valuable insights into advanced textile technologies, sustainable production systems, and industrial innovation that could transform Nigeria’s fashion and creative industry.
Beyond fashion, discussions also extended to renewable energy solutions and industrial innovation, highlighting the potential for broader cooperation in supporting local manufacturing growth. Ramalan expressed optimism that the partnerships formed during the trip would pave the way for future investments, improved production capacity, and stronger trade ties between Nigerian businesses and their Chinese counterparts.
The delegation visited several key industrial hubs, including Zhuji, where they toured the Forever Sole production facility. The group observed more than 25 industrial embroidery and monogram machines used in advanced garment customization and mass production. Ramalan underscored the importance of such technology exchanges, noting that manufacturing partnerships remain essential to the future growth of Africa’s fashion and textile industry.
“We are looking beyond fashion retailing alone. The goal is to build stronger manufacturing capacity, create employment opportunities, and establish sustainable industrial partnerships that can benefit both nations,” he said.
The business tour also included visits to the Sijiqing Silk Market, where discussions focused on premium silk fabrics and luxury textile innovation, and to a high-capacity production warehouse showcasing automated garment manufacturing systems capable of producing thousands of garments within hours. Ramalan described the experience as a major eye-opener into the future of large-scale fashion production.
At the Kinbo Fashion Accessories Market, the delegation explored decorative buttons, Swarovski stones, customized labels, branded hangers, brooches, and other luxury garment finishing materials. Ramalan highlighted the importance of such exposure in positioning Nigerian fashion brands for greater international visibility and competitiveness.
The tour reinforced the growing role of industrial cooperation in shaping Africa’s fashion future, with opportunities for skills development, job creation, and knowledge exchange for young entrepreneurs and professionals.
