President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the inclusion of two critical road projects, the Itawure-Aramoko-Ado Ekiti road and the Aramoko-Ijero-Ifaki Ekiti road in the 2026 Federal Government budget.

According to a statement issued by Olayinka Oyebode, Special Adviser on Media to the Governor of Ekiti State, a formal letter confirming the presidential approval has been forwarded from the Office of the President to the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, with Governor Biodun Oyebanji also copied.

The move follows a visit by Governor Biodun Oyebanji and Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, to President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on November 9, 2025, where they presented the urgent need for the rehabilitation of federal roads in Ekiti State.

Recent public concern and misinformation surrounding the deplorable condition of federal roads, particularly the Itawure-Aramoko-Ado axis, prompted renewed advocacy for federal intervention. The President’s latest directive demonstrates his commitment to infrastructure renewal and economic development across the country.

The Tinubu-led administration has already awarded contracts for three major federal roads in Ekiti State, with contractors mobilized to site. Meanwhile, the Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji-led state government has successfully completed the Ado-Iworoko-Ifaki road project and continues to invest in several inter-city and intra-city road networks aimed at improving mobility and regional trade.

Once completed, the newly approved roads are expected to significantly ease transportation, strengthen interconnectivity within and beyond Ekiti, boost commerce, and unlock new economic opportunities. The projects align with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Oyebanji’s Shared Prosperity vision for the state.

Governor Oyebanji expressed deep appreciation to President Tinubu for his consistent support and strategic interventions in Ekiti’s socioeconomic and infrastructure development. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of citizens through continuous collaboration with the Federal Government, private sector partners, and development agencies.

The road projects mark another milestone in Ekiti State’s ongoing drive for sustainable growth, enhanced accessibility, and long-term prosperity.
