The Federal Republic of Nigeria has joined the Republic of Guinea in celebrating its Independence Anniversary, marking yet another milestone in the nation’s proud history of sovereignty, resilience, and progress. In a warm congratulatory message, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, extended heartfelt felicitations to His Excellency Dr. Morissanda Kouyaté, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Guineans Abroad, as well as to the government and people of Guinea on this special occasion.

Nigeria described Guinea’s Independence Anniversary as not only a moment of national pride for Guineans but also a celebration for the entire African continent. The country’s historic journey towards independence stands as a symbol of determination, courage, and the unwavering pursuit of self-determination. Ambassador Tuggar emphasized that Guinea’s achievements since independence remain an inspiration to many African nations that share the vision of unity, freedom, and development.

Nigeria and Guinea enjoy a long-standing relationship built on mutual respect, shared history, and solidarity. Both countries have worked side by side in strengthening regional cooperation and integration under the frameworks of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the African Union (AU). These bonds, rooted in common struggles for sovereignty and development, have continued to grow stronger through collaboration in political, economic, and socio-cultural spheres.

As part of its message, Nigeria reaffirmed its readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation with Guinea in strategic areas such as trade, energy, education, security, and governance. Abuja expressed confidence that both nations can harness their collective strengths to advance sustainable development, peace, and prosperity for their people. The statement also underscored Nigeria’s admiration for Guinea’s steadfast commitment to peacebuilding, regional stability, and inclusive growth.

Highlighting the importance of African solidarity in a changing global environment, Ambassador Tuggar noted that moments like Guinea’s Independence Anniversary serve as a reminder of Africa’s resilience and its commitment to charting a future defined by unity and progress. Nigeria pledged its continued partnership with Guinea in promoting regional peace and security, strengthening economic integration, and advancing the shared vision of an African continent that thrives on cooperation and mutual prosperity.

As Guinea commemorates its Independence Anniversary, Nigeria joins in celebrating not just the nation’s history but also its aspirations for a brighter future. The government and people of Nigeria expressed optimism that the bond of friendship between the two countries will remain strong and enduring, bringing greater progress to West Africa and the continent as a whole.
