Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has extended warm congratulations to Jim Pam Wayas, the Executive Chairman of the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service (PSIRS), on his attainment of a PhD in Accounting. The governor commended Wayas for his academic pursuit, describing the milestone as a testament to his dedication, resilience, and commitment to excellence in both his professional and personal life.

A Boost to Leadership and Service

In a statement issued by the governor’s office, Mutfwang expressed confidence that Wayas’s newly acquired expertise would enhance his capacity to steer the state’s revenue generation efforts effectively. The governor emphasized that the advanced degree aligns with Plateau State’s vision of fostering a knowledge-driven approach to governance and public service.

“This remarkable academic achievement is not just a personal milestone for Dr. Wayas but also a significant boost to the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service. His dedication to continuous learning and professional development exemplifies the values we hold dear as a government,” Mutfwang stated.

The governor highlighted the strategic importance of the PSIRS in the state’s economic framework, adding that Wayas’s enhanced knowledge in accounting and financial management would be instrumental in implementing innovative revenue policies and ensuring fiscal sustainability.

Driving Economic Growth Through Knowledge

Wayas’s PhD is expected to contribute to strengthening the operational efficiency of the PSIRS, particularly in areas such as tax administration, compliance, and revenue optimization. Plateau State has recently intensified efforts to improve internally generated revenue (IGR) as part of its broader economic reform agenda.

Governor Mutfwang reiterated his administration’s commitment to empowering public servants with the tools and knowledge necessary to deliver impactful results. “Dr. Wayas’s achievement inspires all public officials to pursue excellence and demonstrate that continuous learning is critical to driving economic growth and development,” he noted.

A Symbol of Dedication and Resilience

In his response, Jim Pam Wayas thanked Governor Mutfwang for the recognition and pledged to redouble his efforts in serving the people of Plateau State. He described the journey to earning a PhD as challenging but deeply fulfilling, attributing his success to perseverance and support from his family and colleagues.

“This accomplishment is a reflection of my commitment to advancing the principles of transparency, accountability, and innovation in public service,” Wayas said. “I am determined to leverage this achievement to contribute meaningfully to the progress of Plateau State.”

Celebrating Excellence in Public Service

Wayas’s academic milestone has sparked widespread admiration across Plateau State, with colleagues and stakeholders in the public and private sectors lauding his dedication to professional and personal growth. Analysts view this as a positive development for the PSIRS, as it underscores the importance of capacity building among leaders tasked with managing critical state functions.

The recognition comes at a time when Plateau State is prioritizing reforms aimed at boosting IGR, reducing dependency on federal allocations, and creating a more self-reliant economic structure. The PSIRS plays a pivotal role in this vision, with its leadership expected to model best practices in governance and financial management.
