Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with the Republic of Ghana, emphasizing the need for continued cooperation at both government and citizen-to-citizen levels.

During a two-day official visit to Ghana, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, met with key stakeholders, including the President of Ghana, the country’s Foreign Minister, traditional rulers, and members of the Nigerian community. The visit focused on ensuring the safety of lives, property, and businesses of Nigerians residing in Ghana while promoting stronger socio-economic and diplomatic ties between both nations.

Upon arrival at Kotoka International Airport in Accra on Tuesday evening, the Minister held a brief engagement with Ghana’s Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, before continuing high-level meetings with Ghanaian authorities the following day.

Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu also met with leaders of the Nigerian community in Ghana, addressing concerns over bilateral relations and reiterating Nigeria’s dedication to protecting its citizens abroad. The visit underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to fostering peaceful coexistence, economic collaboration, and mutual respect between Nigeria and Ghana.

The Minister is expected to return to Abuja on Thursday after concluding her engagements, which mark a significant step in reinforcing Nigeria-Ghana relations within the West African sub-region.
