Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has extended his heartfelt condolences to Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi following the tragic deaths of his son, Abdulwahab Namadi, and his mother, Hajiya Maryam Namadi, within 24 hours. The devastating events have left the governor and his family grappling with profound grief.

Abdulwahab Namadi, aged 24, lost his life in a car crash on Thursday while traveling to Kafin-Hausa Local Government Area of Jigawa State to offer condolences over the death of his grandmother. Hajiya Maryam Namadi, the governor’s mother, passed away on Wednesday and was buried the same day, following Islamic rites. Abdulwahab’s untimely demise has deepened the sorrow already engulfing the Namadi family.

The fatal accident occurred as Abdulwahab embarked on the condolence visit to honor his late grandmother. The sequence of events has drawn widespread sympathy, highlighting the fragility of life and the unexpected nature of such tragedies.

Jonathan’s Message of Comfort

In a condolence message released on Friday from Abuja, former President Jonathan described the double loss as shocking and painful. He expressed his deep sadness over the tragic events and urged Governor Namadi to find solace in faith and the enduring memories of his loved ones.

“I convey my deepest condolences to you and your family over the tragic loss of your beloved mother and son within such a short span of time,” Jonathan said. “I am profoundly saddened by this devastating news, and my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.”

Jonathan acknowledged the irreplaceable nature of the losses, emphasizing the emotional toll of losing both a cherished mother and a young, promising son. “I cannot imagine the depth of pain you must be enduring. I want you to know that my heart goes out to you and your family,” he added.

The former president prayed for divine strength and comfort for Governor Namadi and his family. “May the Almighty grant you and your family the fortitude to bear these irreplaceable losses, and may He comfort you and bring you peace,” Jonathan concluded.

The tragic loss has elicited an outpouring of sympathy and support from across Nigeria, with political leaders, public figures, and citizens expressing their condolences. Many have called for prayers for the Namadi family during this exceptionally trying period.

Governor Namadi, who has recently been at the helm of Jigawa State, is now facing an immense personal tragedy that has drawn national attention. The incident underscores the unpredictability of life and the importance of community support in moments of profound grief.
