South Africa, Togo, and Burundi Congratulates Trump on U.S. Election Victory

African leaders continue to extend congratulations to Donald J. Trump on his presidential election victory, underscoring opportunities for strengthened partnerships with the United States. Togo’s President Faure Gnassingbé praised Trump’s win as a new chapter for bolstering ties based on shared values of peace, progress, and respect for human rights.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa echoed similar sentiments, voicing eagerness to enhance collaboration across sectors. “In the global arena, we look forward to our Presidency of the G20 in 2025, where we will work closely with the U.S., who will succeed us in 2026,” Ramaphosa stated, signaling South Africa’s commitment to addressing global challenges in tandem with the U.S.

Burundi’s President Évariste Ndayishimiye also extended his congratulations, expressing confidence in Trump’s leadership and his ability to advance the aspirations of the American people. As African nations recognize Trump’s victory, they emphasize a collective focus on collaboration for peace, stability, and shared development on the international stage.
