President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 individuals to the boards and leadership of 10 federal government agencies and commissions, including former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose as chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). The appointments take immediate effect, according to the Presidency.
The appointments were announced in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Monday.
According to the statement, Fayose will chair the REA board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed as members and non executive directors. The agency’s Director General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors will complete the board.
President Tinubu also appointed Major General Junaid Bindawa as chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, alongside eight other appointees to the commission.
The appointments form part of a broader reconstitution of leadership across key federal agencies and commissions, covering sectors including rural electrification, public sector remuneration, energy, agriculture and population management. Other appointments include new leadership for the National Population Commission, Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc, the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission and the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation.
The Presidency said all appointments take immediate effect. No additional details were provided on the tenure of the appointees or their immediate priorities.
