Russian Strike on Sloviansk Kills Four, Local Official Says

A Russian strike on the eastern Ukrainian city of Sloviansk has killed four people and injured several others, according to local authorities, as fighting continues across Ukraine’s eastern front.

The attack damaged residential buildings and civilian infrastructure in the city, which lies in the eastern region of Donetsk Oblast. Emergency services rushed to the scene to search through debris and assist those affected by the blast.

Local officials said the strike hit a populated area, causing significant destruction to homes and nearby facilities. Rescue teams worked for hours to clear rubble and check for additional victims trapped beneath collapsed structures.

Sloviansk has repeatedly been targeted since the start of the full scale invasion launched by Russia against Ukraine in 2022. The city is strategically important because it sits near the front lines of the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

Authorities warned that further attacks remain possible as fighting continues in the region. Ukrainian officials have urged residents in frontline areas to remain cautious and follow safety instructions issued by emergency services.

The latest strike highlights the ongoing risks faced by civilians in eastern Ukraine, where towns and cities close to the battlefield continue to experience shelling, missile strikes, and drone attacks as the war enters another year.
