In a significant diplomatic engagement aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, Yemen’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mostafa Noaman, held a meeting with Sudan’s Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hussein al-Amin, on the sidelines of the 19th Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Kampala, Uganda, on Tuesday.

The high-level discussion underscored the shared commitment of both nations to enhancing cooperation across various fields, particularly in diplomacy, trade, and regional stability. The meeting provided an opportunity for the two officials to exchange perspectives on key developments in the Horn of Africa and the Middle East, while reaffirming their mutual dedication to peace, security, and partnership within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement’s goals.

Vice Minister Noaman conveyed Yemen’s appreciation for Sudan’s ongoing support and its constructive role in regional peace efforts. He emphasized the importance of deepening collaboration between Yemen and Sudan, especially in addressing shared challenges such as political transitions, humanitarian issues, and security concerns affecting the broader region. He noted that such engagements are vital for promoting solidarity and stability among countries facing similar developmental and political circumstances.

For his part, Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein al-Amin expressed Sudan’s readiness to expand its diplomatic ties with Yemen and to strengthen coordination in multilateral forums like the Non-Aligned Movement, the Arab League, and the African Union. He commended Yemen’s participation in regional dialogues and highlighted the importance of maintaining open channels of communication between both foreign ministries to advance joint priorities.

The meeting in Kampala came at a time when both Yemen and Sudan are navigating complex domestic and regional challenges. Diplomats from both countries described the encounter as productive and forward-looking, aimed at laying the groundwork for future cooperation in areas including capacity building, humanitarian relief coordination, and foreign policy alignment.

Observers noted that the sidelines discussions at the Non-Aligned Movement summit have offered an important platform for fostering dialogue among member states on pressing global issues such as development, peacebuilding, and South-South cooperation. The engagement between Yemen and Sudan represents a broader effort to revitalize regional diplomacy and reaffirm the principles of mutual respect, non-interference, and collective progress that underpin the NAM’s mission.

Both delegations concluded the meeting with a renewed sense of partnership and a shared vision for enhanced diplomatic relations, pledging to continue working closely on regional initiatives that contribute to the prosperity and stability of their nations and the wider region.
