Afrobeats megastar Davido has come to the defense of his close friend and associate, Ubi Franklin, following a wave of social media allegations linking the music executive to a supposed stolen wristwatch incident in Miami. The controversy erupted earlier in the week when Wizkid’s associate, Tufab, reposted online claims suggesting that Ubi’s name was connected to the alleged theft, a rumor that quickly gained traction across various platforms and even prompted a reaction from Davido’s elder brother, Adewale Adeleke.

In a statement released on Wednesday, August 13, Ubi Franklin categorically denied the accusations, labeling them as completely false, misleading, and malicious. “I am aware of the recent circulation on social media linking my name to an alleged theft. The allegations are unfounded and entirely untrue,” he said, making it clear that the claims had no basis in fact and were deliberately designed to tarnish his image. His firm rebuttal came amid a swirl of online gossip that threatened to overshadow recent joyful events.

Davido, however, was quick to throw his full weight behind Franklin, making it clear that his friend owed no one an explanation. Taking to Franklin’s comment section, the Grammy-nominated star issued a strong statement, urging everyone to ignore the fabricated drama. Instead, he redirected the public’s focus to the unforgettable celebration of love he recently shared with his wife, Chioma Adeleke, in Miami.
