Ukrainian drones struck an oil depot in Russia’s Pskov Oblast, Kyiv said on Wednesday, in one of the latest cross-border attacks targeting Russian energy infrastructure.

Ukraine’s military said its forces carried out the strike overnight, hitting fuel storage facilities used to support Russia’s war effort. According to Ukrainian officials, the attack caused a fire at the depot, though the full extent of the damage was not immediately clear.

Russian regional authorities acknowledged a drone attack in Pskov region and said emergency services were deployed to the site. They reported that air defence systems had been activated and that the situation was under control. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

The Pskov region lies in northwestern Russia, near the borders with Estonia and Latvia, and has previously been targeted by Ukrainian drone operations due to its military and logistical significance.

Kyiv has increasingly used long-range drones to strike fuel depots, air bases and other infrastructure inside Russia, arguing that such facilities directly support Moscow’s military campaign in Ukraine. Russia has condemned the strikes as terrorist acts and has stepped up air defences around key energy and military sites.

The incident underscores the expanding geographic scope of the conflict, with energy infrastructure remaining a frequent target as both sides seek to disrupt supply lines and weaken logistical capacity.
