South African pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada says the Proteas have moved past the celebrations of their historic World Test Championship (WTC) final victory over Australia but insists the triumph has instilled a fearless mindset ahead of their next challenge. Rabada will lead South Africa’s bowling attack as they face Australia in a three-match T20 series and three one-day internationals starting Sunday in Darwin.
The Proteas’ five-wicket win at Lord’s in June secured their first-ever major ICC trophy after decades of heartbreak in global tournaments. Rabada admitted the victory was both “special” and a “relief” for the team and the nation, ending a long run of near misses in World Cups. “I think it’s time to move on. We’ll never forget that moment, but now the show moves on,” he said. “Now there’s no fear of anything.”
Rabada, who turns 30 this year, is eager to renew South Africa’s fierce cricket rivalry with Australia. “It’s always hard cricket and good cricket. Whenever we play Australia, I feel like they get the best out of us they’re in our faces, and we like that,” he said.
This series will serve as key preparation for both teams ahead of the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, with South Africa looking to build momentum on the back of their historic WTC triumph. Rabada has not played competitively since lifting the ICC Test Championship mace in London, but is expected to be in prime form as he spearheads the pace attack against the Aussies.
