The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released the highly anticipated shortlist for the 2025 African Player of the Year Award, showcasing some of the finest football talents from across the continent.

The nominees for this year’s prestigious title are:
Frank Anguissa (Cameroon, Napoli), Fiston Mayele (DR Congo, Pyramids FC), Mohamed Salah (Egypt, Liverpool), Denis Bouanga (Gabon, Los Angeles FC), Serhou Guirassy (Guinea, Borussia Dortmund), Achraf Hakimi (Morocco, Paris Saint-Germain), Oussama Lamlioui (Morocco, RS Berkane), Victor Osimhen (Nigeria, Galatasaray), Iliman Ndiaye (Senegal, Everton), and Pape Matar Sarr (Senegal, Tottenham Hotspur).

This year’s lineup reflects Africa’s growing influence in global football, with players excelling across Europe’s top leagues and within African clubs. The competition is expected to be fierce, as each nominee has made significant contributions to both club and country over the past year.

Mohamed Salah, a two-time winner, will be hoping to reclaim his crown, while Victor Osimhen, after another prolific season, stands as one of the leading favorites. Achraf Hakimi’s consistent brilliance for PSG and Morocco also places him among the strong contenders for Africa’s top football honor.

CAF confirmed that several other categories will be celebrated during the CAF Awards 2025 ceremony, including Best Goalkeeper, Best Young Player, Best Coach, Best Club, and National Team of the Year. These awards recognize outstanding achievements across all levels of African football, from grassroots to the international stage.

While the exact date and venue of the CAF Awards 2025 are yet to be announced, excitement is already building across the football world. The event promises to be a celebration of skill, resilience, and the unstoppable rise of African talent on the global stage.

Over the years, the CAF Awards have become more than just a ceremony — they are a tribute to Africa’s football heritage and a spotlight on the stars who continue to inspire millions across the continent and beyond.
