Businessman and philanthropist Philip Aroko has expressed unwavering confidence that he will clinch the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket to contest the vacant Kasipul Kabondo parliamentary seat. The seat fell vacant following the tragic death of MP Ong’ondo Were, who was brutally shot dead on April 30 in an incident that shocked the nation and left the constituency mourning the loss of a dedicated leader.

In an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke, Aroko reaffirmed his readiness to fill the leadership gap left behind by the late MP, stating that his experience, grassroots connection, and commitment to community development uniquely position him to serve the people of Kasipul Kabondo. Branding himself as the “people’s candidate,” Aroko emphasized that his vision is deeply rooted in addressing the challenges that face the constituency, including youth unemployment, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development.

“The people of Kasipul Kabondo deserve a leader who understands their struggles and is willing to stand with them. I have been on the ground, listening to their needs and working with communities to create sustainable solutions. I am confident that with the ODM ticket, we can bring meaningful change and development to this constituency,” Aroko said.

The ODM ticket is widely considered the most crucial step toward winning the Kasipul Kabondo seat, as the party enjoys overwhelming support in the region. Political analysts have noted that whoever secures the nomination is almost assured of representing the constituency in parliament, making the nomination process highly competitive.

Aroko’s philanthropic activities and business initiatives in the region have endeared him to many residents, building a reputation as a leader who is not only approachable but also deeply invested in the welfare of his community. His campaign promises to focus on empowering youth through vocational training, improving access to quality education, expanding healthcare services, and fostering economic growth through small and medium-sized enterprises.

The businessman also paid tribute to the late MP Ong’ondo Were, describing him as a dedicated servant of the people whose vision and passion for Kasipul Kabondo must be carried forward. “We have lost a great leader, but his dream for a better constituency must not die. I am ready to build on his legacy and ensure that Kasipul Kabondo continues to thrive,” he added.

With the ODM nominations expected to attract multiple contenders, Aroko’s declaration sets the stage for a highly anticipated political contest. His strong ties with the local community and his reputation as a “people-first” leader are likely to play a critical role in determining the outcome of the party primaries.

If successful, Aroko pledges to prioritize transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in governance, ensuring that every resident of Kasipul Kabondo has a voice in shaping the future of the constituency.
