The National Assembly New Media Forum (NANMF) on Monday honoured Senator Neda Bernards Imasuen, representing Edo South Senatorial District, in commemoration of his birthday, recognising his unwavering dedication to public service, legislative excellence, and his impactful relationship with the media. The event, which took place at the National Assembly complex in Abuja, served as a symbolic celebration of a lawmaker whose influence continues to resonate within and beyond his senatorial district.

Members of the Forum, led by Chairman Clement Nwabuko, presented Senator Imasuen with a specially designed recognition card as a token of appreciation for his consistent partnership and open-door policy toward the media community, particularly the new media professionals covering parliamentary activities. Nwabuko lauded the senator for fostering transparency, inclusiveness, and responsiveness in governance through active media engagement, noting that such collaboration is vital for democracy.

“There is no better time than your birthday to say thank you for the collaboration and encouragement you’ve shown the New Media Forum,” Nwabuko remarked, highlighting the senator’s inclusive approach to information dissemination and advocacy for press freedom within the legislature.

In response, Senator Imasuen expressed heartfelt gratitude for the honour and pledged to continue working tirelessly for the betterment of his constituents and the Nigerian people at large. He acknowledged the media’s critical role in national development, calling it a cornerstone of democratic governance. He reaffirmed his belief in the power of constructive journalism in holding leaders accountable, bridging the gap between policymakers and citizens, and nurturing civic consciousness.

“This recognition serves as a catalyst for me to redouble my efforts in serving my constituents and contributing to Nigeria’s growth,” Senator Imasuen said, adding that he sees his position in the Senate as a platform not just for legislation, but for meaningful engagement and reform.

The message inscribed on the recognition card described Senator Imasuen as a champion of democratic values and legislative impact, commending him for his “unwavering dedication to legislative excellence.” It further highlighted his advocacy for good governance, equity, and the rights of ordinary Nigerians, which has earned him respect as “a voice of reason and progress in the Senate.”

In his first year at the National Assembly, Senator Imasuen has sponsored and supported several bills and motions aimed at improving infrastructure, education, youth development, and regional integration, positioning him as one of the most responsive legislators from Southern Nigeria. His advocacy for inclusive governance and citizen participation has made him a key figure among his peers and constituents alike.

The National Assembly New Media Forum, which comprises journalists and digital media practitioners covering the legislature, praised the senator’s humility, accessibility, and progressive ideals. The group emphasized that leaders like Senator Imasuen are instrumental in bridging institutional gaps and ensuring that governance is people-oriented and accountable.

The brief but heartfelt ceremony concluded with warm wishes for Senator Imasuen’s continued health, wisdom, and success in his legislative journey and leadership contributions to national development.
