Chinese President Xi Jinping held a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday, according to China’s state broadcaster CCTV.

The call comes ahead of an anticipated visit by President Trump to China in April, though Chinese state media did not disclose details of the discussion.

The two leaders last spoke by phone in late November, marking this as their first direct conversation in several months.

Xi’s call with Trump followed a separate discussion earlier in the day with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which took place via video link. According to the Kremlin, President Putin accepted an invitation from Xi to visit China in the first half of the year.
