Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed two Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists during a successful ambush around Hudugum village in the Hambagda area along the Gwoza–Limankara road in Borno State.

The operation, conducted under Operation Desert Sanity IV/Diligent Search, took place on Wednesday evening and involved soldiers from the 192 Battalion (Main) working closely with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

Security sources said the troops encountered the terrorists’ logistics team around 6:30 p.m. and immediately engaged them with superior firepower. Two insurgents were neutralised on the spot, while others fled with gunshot wounds toward the Mandara Mountains.

“There were no casualties among the troops and no loss of equipment,” the report confirmed, adding that the operation was swift and effective.

Recovered items from the scene included three bicycles, clothing materials, mats, food seasoning, salt, and other personal belongings believed to belong to the fleeing insurgents.

The troops returned safely to base at about 7:50 p.m. after what military officials described as a “hitch-free mission.”

Search operations are ongoing along the terrorists’ escape routes, while the overall security situation in the Gwoza axis remains stable but under close surveillance.
